John Hanrahan served in the Vietnam War as a Lieutenant in the U.S. Army. After returning from the military, John discovered Gordon Doversola’s Okinawa-Te in Canoga Park, California. Fascinated by the demonstration given by Shihan Doversola, John immersed himself over the next several years learning Okinawa-Te directly from Shihan. John Hanrahan was successful at winning first place in all three divisions at a pestigious martial arts tournament held in Mexico. John took first place in Kata (forms), Kobudo (Weapon forms), and Kumite (Freestyle sparring). No one in the history of Gordon Doversola’s Okinawa-Te Organization has ever won all three awards in one tournament to become Grand Tournament Champion except for John Hanrahan.
TODAY: John is currently retired and living in Reseda, California.
