Ray Contreras taught Okinawa-Te under Shihan Gordon Doversola at the Hollywood-Sunset dojo.  Ray demonstrated the superiority of Okinawa-Te fighting skills during Saturday morning classes when he sparred with black belts from various styles.  The dominate martial art styles during the 1960‘s was Tak Kubota’s Gosoku-Ryu Karate and Tsutomu Ohshima’s Shotokan Karate-Do.  Practitioners from other martial arts were always welcomed to practice their style with the class.  They generally hobbled out the door after Ray was done with them.
